this pure Syrah is sourced from vineyards in Chavanay, essentially granite-infused soils. The Syrah is destemmed at harvest, fermentation is in open-top cuves with a two week maceration. An elevage then proceeds for approximately eight months in a mix of stainless steel and small barrel.

2014 FERRATON, crozes-hermitage "LA MATINIERE" $29

2015 DOMAINE PIERRE GAILLARD CROZES-HERMITAGE $28

one year in oak, with barrels used once or twice before, or in casks. The malolactic fermentations are carried out in barrels. Maturing offers finesse, conserving at the same time the fruity flavors. Lovely color, well-structured, deep and fruity. A muscular wine that maintains its finesse and fruitiness. Red berries and violet aromas followed by black fruit character and a hint of white pepper spice. Well-balanced with a long finish.
