2016 CHAIS SAINT-LAURENT CHINON "LA VIGNE EN VERON"$15
Sappy fruit, snappy acidity and juicy dark red fruits. This Chinon is a remarkable value!
2015 CHATEAU SOUCHERIE ANJOU $19
This lively, fruity red retains a strong minerality to its finish that lends class and balance to this simple and reasonably priced wine. Cabernet Franc forms the backbone of this wine (90%) but is blended with a touch of Grolleau (10%). The vines are planted to gravel and schist soils. The elevage is in cuve on the fine lies for approximately eight months.
2015 CHATEAU DE MINIERE "Rouge de Miniere" BOURGUEIL $16
2016 Forty Ounce Gamay $18 (liter bottle)
2015 JAMES PETIT BOURGUEIL $19
2014 DOMAINE PHILIPPE TESSIER CHEVERNY $24
Founded in 1961 by Roger Tessier, son Philippe took the reins 20 years later in 1981. They are located in the heart of the Cheverny and Cour Cheverny AOCs with 23ha of vines. The vineyard exists in a microclimate that keeps the vineyards cool, situated between the Loire River and the forests of Cheverney, Chambord and Solange. The estate has been Ecocert certified since 1998.
Philippe believes that a wine should express the place from which it comes, the climatic conditions of the year, and the vigneron that produces it. Additionally, it must respect the life of the soil and the environment. He believes that wine should be delicious and must also be sound and healthy. Above all, Philippe says, it must be a natural wine.
2015 DOMAINE REVERDY-DUCROUX SANCERRE $21
2012 DOMAINE PHILIPPE GILBERT MENETOU SALON $26
Hand-harvested Pinot Noir undergoes a maceration of three weeks at which point it is racked into conical-shaped barrels to pass its malolactic fermentation and spend eighteen months in elevage on the fine lees before bottling. This might be the tastiest Pinot in the store.
2016 Vignoble Gibault SAUVIGNON BLANC $12
With a pale yellow color, this wine is expressed intensely on white flowers with a hint of citrus. The palate combines flexibility, scale and finesse on blackcurrant bud notes. The finish is fresh and minty. Very aromatic wine with a long finish. Aged in stainless steel tanks and fiber. Our best selling Sauvignon Blanc and with good reason!
2015 La Berriere MUSCADET "Sur-Lie" $12
2016 Forty Ounce Muscadet Sevre et Maine $17 (liter bottle)
2015 Domaine Le Haute-Fevrie MUSCADET $16
Domaine La Haute-Févrie makes full-bodied Muscadets that express the terroir they grew on and are a benchmark for the appellation: fresh, fruity, with the slightest fizz of the "sur lie" topped by a touch of citrus fruit. The vines average 35 year old and the grapes are hand-harvested, which is rare for Muscadet.
2016 LES CHARDONS SAUVIGNON BLANC TOURAINE “les Chardons”$15
The 2016 is bright and vibrant, driven by it's acidity, but with a tasty and slightly salty minerality on the finish and a richer rounder texture than most Touraine. The flavors were all cleanly expressed and had good definition. There was also a whiff of spicy aromatic herbs that added another dimension. This will be a great refreshment this spring/summer.
2015 CHATEAU Soucherie Anjou Blanc $19
The grapes, 100% Chenin Blanc, are sourced from the vineyard site “Les Rangs de Longue” which is on the northern part of the estate but with south-southeastern exposure. The soil is a mix of clay and sand and limestone with some schist. The wine is vinified totally dry in cuve and aged on the fine lies for eight to nine months before being bottled. Absolutely brilliant Chenin Blanc.
2016 Lucien Crochet SANCERRE $30 $16(.375ml)
2016 Domaine Reverdy-Ducroux Sancerre "Les Vignes Silex" $20
2016 Jean Marc Pastou "Les Boucaults" Sancerre $21
OUR FAVORITE Sancerre year in and out. Aromas of lime and lemon zest, with a touch of firecracker smoke (from the flinty soils). Flavors of crisp pear, grapefruit and kumquat.
2015 Jean-Michel Sorbe Quincy $21
2015 Roger Minet Pouilly Fume "Vieille Vignes" $25
2015 Domaine Philippe Gilbert Menetou Salon $27
2014 MARC DESCHAMPS POUILLY FUME "PORCHERONNES" $27
This cuvée is a blend of wine from several sites scattered on the hilltop of Les Loges, specifically “La Cote”, and “Les Griottes”. These are some of the younger vines of the estate, now (2012) averaging 20 years of age. This is the most elegant and sprightly of the quartet of Pouilly Fumés produced by Deschamps.
